Why did God destroy the antediluvian world?

"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth. . . . And the Lord said, I will destroy man
whom I have created from the face of the earth." Gen. 6: 5-7.

In view of the curse upon this creation, what has God promised?
How thoroughly will the effects of sin he removed?
How was this fulfilled?
How intimate is His union with believers?
Still bent on persecution, how does Satan manifest his enmity against the remnant church?
Who is the seed to whom this promise was made?
How will the ransomed of the Lord return to Zion?
